How much does it cost to install pool lighting in my pool?

It is always more expensive to install pool lighting in an existing pool than in a new pool. For our PP pools, the location of the pool light is already cut out, and the lamp housing itself is already installed upon delivery. For Thermopools, the lamp must be installed before the walls are cast. For pools, there is an LED lamp with white light or an LED lamp that is multicolored. With a multicolored so-called RGB lamp, you can decide whether you want a fixed light in different colors or a rotating color. The lamp works so that if you interrupt the power to the lamp for a short period (<100ms), the lamp changes color. If you interrupt the power for a longer period, the lamp turns off and retains the previous color.

To change the color, a remote control is included, which works exactly as described above, i.e., it interrupts the power for a short period to change the color and for a longer period to turn the lamp on and off.

A white LED lamp with a white ABS plastic cover can cost anywhere from 2500 SEK up to 8900 SEK, while an RGB LED lamp costs around 1000 SEK and ends at 3500 SEK – 9900 SEK. There are also lamps in stainless steel, which cost significantly more. However, these lamps cannot be used in a saltwater pool.

How many lights should a pool have?

A private pool, ranging in size from 3 x 6 m to 5 x 10 m, usually has 2 lights. The lights are always placed evenly on the long side, so they shine away from the house or where you enter the pool, to avoid glare.

Larger pools, such as public pools, usually have a pool light every other meter to provide enough light.

Can I install pool lights in an existing pool?

Unfortunately, it is a cumbersome procedure, but it is absolutely possible! You need to drain the water from the pool and also open the outside of the pool to access the pool wall. Then you need to install the light in the pool and connect it to a transformer. For a PP pool or steel pool, this is a simple operation, while for a thermopool it is significantly more complicated, as the walls are already cast, and you need to cut away some of the concrete.
